PROGRAM OPTIONS
Lansdale Montessori School is licensed as a private academic preschool and kindergarten by the State of Pennsylvania and is a full member of the American Montessori Society. Each of our four classrooms provides a classic, mixed-age, Montessori early-childhood environment each morning. Children who stay all day are grouped by age in the afternoons.
Half-Day Primary
This option is for pre-school aged children (ages 2 years, 7 months through 4, as of September 1). It is recommended that parents of older children (4-year-olds) consider all-day enrollment if possible, so that half-day spots can be available for our youngest students.
Children attend school from 8:30 a.m. through 11:45 a.m. as part of a mixed-age, Montessori early childhood environment. Learn more about the Montessori Philosophy and Curriculum to understand what our mornings are like.

Children return to the same AM environment from year to year, regardless of half-day, full-day, or kindergarten status.

In the afternoon children are grouped according to age (subject to enrollment). Our youngest afternoon group (3-year-olds) have a short, quiet, rest period followed by work time. Those who fall asleep are allowed to rest for the afternoon. Our 4- and 5-year-olds enjoy a combination of group activities and projects, along with time for independent work in their classrooms. Often teachers and children explore the arts and the social and natural sciences in the afternoon. For example, children may explore families of musical instruments or learn about geography and our place in the world, or how we classify plants and animals

Our kindergarteners are the leaders and role-models of our community, drawing upon the foundation of their earlier years to undertake complex and abstract work in all areas of the classroom.
In the afternoon children are grouped according to age (subject to enrollment). Our kindergarteners are always grouped together, often with some of our older pre-kindergarteners (subject to enrollment). They engage in a variety of afternoon activities, including: focus on writing and reading (according to each child's ability and development); art class; walking field trips to local places such as the Lansdale Library or Fairmount Fire Station; practical uses of math such as money, time, and measurement; special areas of interest in the social and natural sciences, such as geography, botany, zoology, and human anatomy. And of course, they also work with hands-on materials in every area of our prepared Montessori environment!
