Our Community Traditions
These are some of the special events and traditions that bring our community together.
Back-to-School Water Ice Social
During our first week of school we welcome children and families back with some delicious water ice and a chance to socialize and play together in a local park.
International Peace Day
Each September we celebrate International Peace Day by gathering in the courtyard outside LMS to sing "Light a Candle for Peace" as a school community.
Stone Soup
Each classroom reads and retells the folk tale, "Stone Soup." Children bring in ingredients to share and together we wash, chop, and combine the ingredients. All four classrooms come together for a "Stone Soup Feast" and a special performance by the oldest children.
Holiday Show
Each year before our Winter Break begins we celebrate holidays around the world with songs and a community holiday party.
Wacky Wednesday
Wacky Wednesday is a day of fun and laughter. Children and teachers are invited to come to school in their wackiest outfits!
Special Person's Night
Each child invites a special guest to join them in their classroom in the evening. The children prepare and serve a special snack for their guest, and they show the guest some of the classroom work that means so much to them.
Kindergarten Project Museum
LMS Kindergarteners choose a topic that interests them, learn about it, and create a kindergarten project as a capstone to their year. Just before graduation, the LMS community is invited to our Kindergarten Project Museum to enjoy and learn from their beautiful projects.
Moving-Up Ceremony/ Graduation
The grand finale of each school year is our Moving-Up Ceremony and Kindergarten Graduation, held on the evening of the last day of school. All LMS children prepare songs to perform for the community. After the performance, each child receives a certificate. Then we recognize our graduating kindergarteners with a very special ceremony just for them.
